Sun Opposite Midheaven

Overview

Sun opposite Midheaven in synastry puts one person's natal Sun exactly 180 degrees from the other person's Midheaven, which lands that Sun on the Imum Coeli, the lowest point of the chart and the cusp of the fourth house. Five to eight degrees of orb is standard practice for a contact to an angle. The Sun person becomes the private base of the MC person's public life rather than a figure standing inside it, and every professional move the MC person makes gets measured from the ground the Sun person now occupies.

The Imum Coeli is the lower meridian, the degree of the ecliptic directly beneath the birthplace at the moment of birth. The Sun crosses that degree at local solar midnight. This contact therefore drops one person's whole solar identity onto the other person's midnight point, the place in their sky where the actual Sun is furthest from view.
