This Week's Guidance
Oct 12 — 18, 2026
A fresh-start week. Monday is scattered, Tuesday is for choosing one thing, Thursday runs sharp, Friday gets to the root of what is holding you back, and the weekend turns confident.
The month starts over this week. Last weekend was the dark, heavy stretch, and by Monday most people feel lighter and a good deal more scattered. Ideas come easily early in the week. Following through on them is harder.
Monday has a restless, windy quality. You will want to change plans, rearrange a room, start three things at once. Let yourself think broadly, but don't sign up for anything yet. By Tuesday the restlessness narrows into wanting something specific, and that is the day to choose. One project, one habit, one thing you will actually work on for the rest of the month. Write it down somewhere you will see it.
Wednesday is good for bringing someone in on it. A friend who will ask how it is going, a partner who needs to know your evenings look different now. People are warm and loyal in the middle of the week, and asking for help is easier than usual.
Thursday has an edge. Expect someone, possibly you, to get territorial about who is in charge, who did more, or whose way is right. It comes from feeling protective more than from meanness, but it can come out sharp. If you manage people or share a kitchen, go gentler than usual and let a few things slide.
Friday matters most. It is the day for getting to the bottom of things. Whatever you picked on Tuesday, Friday is when you find out what it really rests on: the actual reason you haven't done it yet, the weak spot in the plan, the habit underneath the habit. Some of what you find will need to come out before anything else can grow. That can feel like a setback. It is the most useful information you will get all week.
The weekend is confident. Saturday has conviction and momentum. People argue well and persuade easily, so make your case, but notice when you are only arguing to win. Sunday settles. Look at what you started and decide calmly whether it stays. If it does, it is yours for the month.
Pick one thing. Find out what it stands on.
Alternate-Nostril Breathing
Five minutes each morning this week, before you look at your phone. Sit upright. Rest your left hand in your lap.
With your right hand, use your thumb to close your right nostril and your ring finger to close your left. Close the right nostril and breathe in through the left for a count of four.
Close both nostrils for a moment. Open the right and breathe out for a count of four. Breathe in through the right for four, close both, open the left and breathe out for four. That is one round.
Keep going for five minutes. If counting gets in the way, drop it and just keep the breath slow and even. Monday, do it before you decide anything.
Notice which ideas still look good afterward. Thursday, do two extra minutes before any conversation you expect to be tense. Friday evening, do ten minutes instead of five, then write down one honest sentence about what is really holding your project back. This is an evening-out practice.
The week starts scattered and runs hot in the middle, and a few minutes of slow, balanced breathing each morning keeps both from running the day.

Mid-October. Afternoons can still get warm, but the mornings are cold enough to see your breath some days, and it is dark by seven. The summer's leftover heat tends to show up now in small ways: a short fuse late in the day, heartburn after a big lunch, skin that flares or itches for no clear reason. Cooling and steadying foods help more than you would expect. Sweet potatoes, rice, cooked apples and pears, a spoonful of ghee or butter on vegetables. Go easy on hot sauce, coffee on an empty stomach, and wine at night. Eat your main meal at midday when you can, and keep dinner light and early. Get outside in the late-afternoon sun while it is still pleasant. In a few weeks it won't be.
Where This Comes From
This week's guidance draws from the lunar journey across seven nakshatras, the seasonal transition, and cross-tradition patterns that align with the week's themes.
Season: Sharad (Autumn). The body is in transition — mid-october.
