This Week's Guidance

Sep 7 — 13, 2026

A new moon week with a clear hinge on Thursday. The first half quiets, the second half begins. Saturday and Sunday bring the clearest sense of direction you have had in a month.

This is a week with a clear hinge in it. You might not notice where it falls until afterward, but by Sunday you will feel the difference between how the week started and how it ended.

The first three days are quiet in a way that is hard to describe without making it sound depressing. It is not. Monday through Wednesday, the month is finishing. If the last couple of weeks felt like coasting, this week the coast ends — not with a crash, but with a stop. Things you have been carrying just get set down. Not dramatically. You wake up Wednesday and realize you are not thinking about something that has occupied you for weeks. That is the clearing happening on its own.

Thursday is the still point. The lowest light of the month. This is not a day for decisions or productivity or important conversations. It is a day for doing as little as possible and letting that be enough. Your body will cooperate — you will want less, need less, feel less urgency about everything. Trust it. The stillness is not apathy. It is your system at the bottom of its breath, right before the inhale.

Friday something shifts. Not dramatically — there is no morning revelation, no burst of motivation. More like noticing that you are thinking about next week. Planning. Wanting. The desire to do things returns before the ability to do them, and that gap is worth paying attention to. Do not rush to fill it. Let the wanting build without acting on it yet.

The weekend is where the week pays off. Saturday has a precision to it — your hands want to make things, fix things, organize things. Sunday opens up further. By evening, you will have a clearer sense of what you actually want from the next few weeks than you have had in a month. Not because you figured it out. Because the noise dropped low enough for it to become obvious.

Begin from rest, not from urgency.

This Week's Practice

The Three Questions

This is a three-day practice — Friday through Sunday — timed to the return of the light after the new moon. Each morning, before you check your phone or talk to anyone, sit with one question.

Write the answer in one sentence. Friday: What am I done with? Not what should I be done with.

What am I actually done with — what has genuinely lost its hold, what no longer interests me, what I carried last month that I notice I am no longer carrying.

One sentence. Saturday: What do I want? Not what I should want. Not what makes sense. What I actually want, right now, if nobody were watching and nothing were at stake.

One sentence. Sunday: What is the smallest first step? Not the whole plan. Not the vision. One thing I could do Monday morning that moves toward Saturday's answer.

Something small enough that it does not trigger resistance. Something I would actually do. Read all three sentences together on Sunday evening. They form a through-line: release, desire, action.

The dark cleared the noise, and what remains is signal. You do not need a larger plan right now. You need these three sentences and a Monday morning.

Tue Sep 8 Waning Crescent · 8%

Nearly dark. Tuesday has an inward pull that is hard to fight and not worth fighting. If something surfaces — a memory, an old frustration, a thought you have been avoiding — let it arrive. It is leaving, not arriving.

Wed Sep 9 New Moon · 3%

The clearing day. Whatever mental noise has been running in the background for the last two weeks gets noticeably quieter. Not because you solved anything. Because the cycle is ending and your system is releasing what it no longer needs.

The absolute bottom — zero light. The stillest day you will have all month. Not heavy. Empty in a good way, the way a room feels after you clean it. Do not fill it.

This Week's Picks

Herb Brahmi Your brain has been running hot for weeks. Not productive-hot — just noisy. The kind of mental static where you have six tabs open and cannot close any of them. Brahmi quiets the browser without making you drowsy. It is not a sedative. It is a clarifier — it helps your mind distinguish between thoughts that need attention and thoughts that are just running because nobody told them to stop. Take it as a powder in warm water or milk, morning or evening. This week, when the light goes dark and your system naturally wants to slow down, Brahmi helps you actually get there instead of just wanting to. By Thursday you will notice the difference as genuine mental quiet. Not emptiness. Stillness. Tea Chamomile The obvious choice, and obvious for a reason. This is the darkest week of the month, and your nervous system knows it even if your calendar does not. Sleep should be easier than usual — the dark supports deep rest — but only if you help the transition. Chamomile before bed is the simplest way to signal to your body that the day is ending. Brew it for longer than the box suggests. Five minutes minimum. Drink it without a screen in your hand. The gap between wanting to sleep and actually sleeping is smaller this week than it has been in a while — chamomile closes it the rest of the way. Especially Tuesday through Thursday, when the dark is deepest. Essential Oil Frankincense Frankincense has been used for contemplation longer than any other oil, and this is the most contemplative week of the month. It does something specific to the breath — deepens it, slows it — that makes the still-point quality of Thursday and Friday feel less uncomfortable and more like something you chose. A drop on each wrist or in a diffuser during the evening hours. It is especially good Thursday night, the darkest night of the month, when your mind might interpret the deep quiet as loneliness or boredom rather than what it actually is: a genuine pause between one cycle and the next. Crystal Obsidian Obsidian is volcanic glass — formed when lava cools so fast it cannot crystallize. There is something fitting about that this week: the rapid shift from one state to another, old becoming new without a gradual transition. Keep it near you from Wednesday through Friday — on your desk, in your pocket, on the nightstand. Obsidian is protective in the way that a closed door is protective. It does not fight anything off. It gives you a boundary between you and the noise. During the darkest days of the month, when your system is most open and least guarded, that boundary matters. It lets you go inward without absorbing everything around you. Practice Walking Meditation This is not a week for sitting still and thinking hard. Your mind has been doing enough of that. A slow walk — ten to fifteen minutes, no destination, no podcast, no phone — gives your body something to do while your mind rests. The walking keeps you grounded when the dark can make you feel unmoored. Saturday and Sunday are the best days for this, when the first light is returning and there is a freshness in the air that you will miss if you are inside. Walk slowly enough that you notice your feet on the ground. That is the entire instruction.

This Week's Seasonal Theme

Early September monsoon. The peak heat is behind you but the humidity lingers, and your body knows the season is turning even if the temperature has not caught up. Digestion is sluggish. Sleep is variable. There is a low-grade tiredness that does not respond to more rest because it is not about sleep — it is about the accumulated weight of a long, damp summer. This is the week to eat warm, simple food. Not raw, not cold, not complicated. Soups, cooked grains, things your gut can process without working hard. The new moon mid-week makes the seasonal fatigue more noticeable — Thursday and Friday you may feel genuinely depleted. That is two rhythms converging, not a problem. By Sunday, both start to lift.

Where This Comes From

This week's guidance draws from the lunar journey across seven nakshatras, the seasonal transition, and cross-tradition patterns that align with the week's themes.

Season: Varsha (Monsoon). The body is in transition — early september monsoon.
