Overview

Sun conjunct North Node in synastry places one person's Sun on the other person's lunar North Node, and it reads as a growth-direction contact. The Sun person already embodies, without trying, the quality the Node person's chart describes as unfinished. The bond tends to feel fated inside the first conversation, and it tends not to feel comfortable.

The North Node isn't an object. It's the point where the Moon's orbit, tilted about 5.1 degrees to the plane of the ecliptic, crosses that plane heading north. There's nothing there to photograph. Eclipses happen only when a new or full Moon falls close to one of these crossings, which is why several traditions read the nodes as places where light gets interrupted rather than as bodies carrying light of their own.

The nodes move backward through the zodiac, retrograde by nature, completing a circuit in roughly 18.6 years. That gives nodal returns near ages 19, 37, and 56.
