Overview

Mars opposite Midheaven in synastry places one person's natal Mars 180 degrees from the other person's Midheaven, which puts it on their Imum Coeli, the base of the chart. The Mars person lands on the Midheaven person's home, family ground, and private foundation, and the career, reputation, and visible direction at the top of the chart respond to whatever gets stirred up down there.

Opposite the Midheaven and conjunct the IC name the same degree. The Midheaven is where the ecliptic crosses the local meridian at birth, calculated from local sidereal time, which is clock time plus longitude, and the IC sits exactly 180 degrees from it by definition.
