You already know what needs to stop. You have known for weeks. You know which habit is costing you. You know which conversation has been overdue since March. You know which subscription you keep paying for because canceling it would mean admitting something you have not wanted to admit. Knowing is not the work. Knowing is what you have been doing instead of the work.

There is a moment where a thing actually ends. It is small — almost embarrassingly small for how much weight it has been carrying. A single sentence said out loud. A single message sent. A single decision made in a way that does not let itself be quietly revisited tomorrow. Most of what you have decided to stop is still happening because you have not had that moment. You have had the deciding, over and over. The deciding is not the ending. The ending is the cut.

Pick the one thing you have been deciding to stop the longest. Today, do the small concrete act that ends it. Send the message. Cancel the autorenewal. Delete the app from the home screen. Say it out loud to one person who will not let you take it back tomorrow. End it in a way today does not allow tomorrow to undo.

The moon is at the very end of its waning cycle — almost completely dark, the day before renewal. Saturday belongs to discipline and finishing what is overdue. Today's lunar position carries the energy of cutting fire — the heat that ends what no longer belongs so a new cycle has room to begin. Summer continues at peak, eight days before its turning point. The day favors decisive endings over fresh starts.

The Buddhist *viriya* — energetic effort — that closes the gap between intention and act. The Christian *metanoia* — the turn that is not a thought but a fact. The Stoic *prohairesis* — the chosen act that reveals who you actually are, distinguished from the opinion that only says so. *Grishma rtu* — summer at peak heat, eight days before solstice — supplies the fire this work requires; but the cooling foods, the slower pace, and the sharp short breath rather than long exertion keep that fire focused on what needs to burn. Krittika's instruction is the one thing most decisions never include: the act.

Eat

Eat for clearance today, not for fullness. A bowl of stewed apple with cardamom and a pinch of black salt for breakfast. A small handful of soaked almonds midmorning. A thin barley soup with leeks and a sprinkle of black pepper for dinner — barley is the classic clearing grain. Favor bitter, astringent, and slightly pungent tastes — they support the gentle internal burn the day wants. Skip alcohol, sugar, heavy dairy, fried food, and late-night eating. Each is its own quiet decision the body has to undo before the cycle can close.

Drink

Begin with a tall glass of room-temperature water with a squeeze of lime to wake the digestive system. Through the day, sip a warm tea made from equal parts cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds — one teaspoon of the mix steeped in two cups of hot water — the classic Ayurvedic digestive infusion, gentle enough for Pitta and supportive of clearance. At bedtime, half a teaspoon of <a href='/herbs/triphala/'>triphala</a> powder in warm water — the three-fruit formula of <a href='/herbs/amalaki/'>amalaki</a>, <a href='/herbs/bibhitaki/'>bibhitaki</a>, and <a href='/herbs/haritaki/'>haritaki</a> — the most traditional preparation for completing what the day began in the digestive tract. Move

Move with intention today, not for fitness but for finishing. A thirty-minute brisk walk before the heat builds — a pace with somewhere to be, though where is internal. Then put the physical labor where the day points it: deep-clean one room, clear out one drawer or one shelf, take the donation bag to the door, finish the assembly that has been three steps from done for a month. Saturn is doubled today; he is the patron of the small honest physical act that completes a thing. End the working day with five minutes of *malasana* (deep squat) and a few minutes of *uttanasana* (forward fold) to release the lower back from the day's lifting. Skip hot yoga, sprint intervals, and any midday outdoor exertion — Pitta peak punishes overheating.

Breathe

In the morning, five rounds of *Bhastrika pranayama* — bellows breath — ten rapid full inhales and exhales through the nose per round, pausing between rounds. Then five rounds of *Kapalabhati* — skull-shining breath — twenty short sharp exhales per round with passive inhales, the diaphragm doing the work. These are the two classical fire-kindling breaths of *hatha yoga*; they wake the digestive and mental fire and clear the channels for the day's decisive work. Skip these if you are pregnant, have uncontrolled blood pressure, or are in early postpartum. In the evening, soften with five rounds of *nadi shodhana* — alternate-nostril breathing — to bring the system back to balance and prepare for sleep.

Sit

Three short sits today, each tied to an act. In the morning, ten minutes with a clean page. Write one sentence: *What have I been deciding to stop the longest?* Then write down the single small act that would end it. Midday, do the act — send the message, cancel the autorenewal, decline the recurring invitation, delete the app. The bridge from sitting to act is the practice, not the sitting alone. In the evening, ideally around twilight, sit for fifteen minutes with the empty space where the thing used to be. Do not yet fill it. *Amavasya* arrives tomorrow; tonight's discipline is to leave the space clean so the new cycle has somewhere to begin.

Yesterday you started the document. Today you finish it. Inherited patterns first — what was installed in you by family, by significant others, by anyone you absorbed from. Then your constitution — your type as lived, the gap between your nature and your current state. Then mind structure — the actual dominant activities of your mental machinery, the default level it settles into when you are not directing it. Then epistemology — how you decide what is true, where your default method leads you wrong, what false certainties you have identified in this work. Then willingness — what you are unwilling to be, do, or have, and where those blocks came from. Then past and memory — what still carries weight, what your confronting capacity is now. When all sections are done, read the whole document from beginning to end. Do not edit as you read. If something is dishonest or missing, fix it. The accuracy is the foundation — Krittika is the cut that finishes what Bharani held, and this document is the form it takes.

Exercise
