You Keep Reaching for the Wrong Version

The problem is not that you want comfort. Wanting comfort is accurate — it is your body telling you something needs tending. The problem is that you have gotten very efficient at reaching for the nearest available version instead of the specific thing that would work. And the near version never quite lands. So you do it again. You are not undisciplined. You are imprecise. Discipline says deny yourself. Precision says get honest about what you are asking for and then go get that thing — not the substitute that is easier to reach but never satisfies.
