This Week's Guidance
Mar 9 — 15, 2026
The Moon wanes through Anuradha, Jyeshtha, Mula, and into Shravana as we approach the New Moon. A week of transformation and release — clear the roots before spring.
This is a week of clearing. The Moon continues its waning journey, dropping from 67% to 15% illumination as it moves through some of the zodiac's most transformative nakshatras. By Sunday, we'll be just days from the New Moon — this is the final release before the next cycle begins.
Monday and Tuesday hold you gently. The Moon remains in Anuradha, Saturn's soft nakshatra presided over by Mitra, god of friendship and alliance. These opening days favor connection: tending relationships, honoring those who sustain you, finding comfort in belonging. The Last Quarter Moon asks you to reflect on what the recent Full Moon illuminated — what patterns or attachments became visible that you're now ready to release?
Wednesday brings the first shift as the Moon enters Jyeshtha, the eldest star. Ruled by Mercury and presided over by Indra, this nakshatra sharpens mental clarity and stirs a desire for independence. You may feel more decisive, more willing to speak difficult truths. Use this energy wisely — Mercury rewards precision, not aggression.
Thursday marks the week's deepest turning point as the Moon enters Mula, "the root." Ruled by Ketu and presided over by Nirriti, goddess of dissolution, Mula takes us to the foundation of things. Old patterns may loosen their grip; beliefs you've held without questioning may suddenly feel negotiable. This is not destruction but excavation — clearing overgrowth so you can see what's actually rooted, what's worth keeping. Trust the unsettling.
Friday through Sunday carry the Moon through the Ashadhas and into Shravana. Venus-ruled Purva Ashadha on Friday brings fierce, purifying energy — emotional clearing supported by the water deity Apas. Saturday's Uttara Ashadha, ruled by the Sun, offers conviction and patience. By Sunday in Moon-ruled Shravana, the listening star presided over by Vishnu, you arrive at deep receptivity. At 15% illumination, the darkness is almost complete. What you've released this week has created space. Shravana invites you to hear what wants to fill it.
The New Moon approaches. Trust the clearing. What falls away now was never meant to be carried into spring.
I trust what falls away was never meant to be carried forward — I am lighter for the letting go.
Waning Moon Release Ritual
On Thursday evening, as the Moon moves through Mula, create space for intentional release. Light a single candle and sit quietly.
On a small piece of paper, write one pattern, belief, or attachment you're ready to let go of — something the recent Full Moon revealed that no longer serves you. Read it aloud once.
Then safely burn the paper (use a fireproof dish), watching the smoke carry it away. Sit with the emptiness for a few breaths. What opens up when this is gone? No need to fill the space yet.
The New Moon will offer seeds for planting. For now, honor the clearing.
