Satyori — Mamsavaha Srotas (Muscle Channels) Quick Card
Srotas Quick Card
Mamsavaha Srotas
Muscle Channels · The channels that carry nutrients to mamsa (muscle tissue)
Function
Mamsavaha srotas delivers nutrients to muscle tissue for growth, repair, and maintenance of strength. Mamsa dhatu provides the body's structural covering over the skeleton, gives form to the body, and enables all voluntary and involuntary movement. It also nourishes the sense organs and protects the internal organs from external impact.
Origin · Pathway · Destination
Origin: The tendons and ligaments (snayu) and the skin (tvacha).
Pathway: From the nutrient-rich blood (rakta) through the capillary beds into muscle tissue.
Destination: All muscular tissue in the body, including skeletal muscles, smooth muscle of the digestive tract and blood vessels, and the cardiac muscle.
Signs of Healthy Flow
Well-developed, firm muscles with good tone and definition. Adequate physical strength for daily activities.
Signs of Blockage
Muscle wasting despite adequate protein intake, fibromyalgia, chronic muscle tension, muscle tumors (benign or malignant), fibroids (uterine fibroids being a mamsa-related growth), polyps, warts, granulomas, and the localized hardening or thickening of muscle tissue. Chronic neck and shoulder stiffness. Loss of muscle flexibility.
Treatment Principles
Balance mamsa dhatu through appropriate exercise matched to constitution. Use lekhana (scraping) therapy for excess mamsa growth. Apply brimhana (nourishing) therapy for mamsa depletion.
