Karma Pattern

Krittika is the nakshatra of the sacred flame — and its karma is the karma of the fire that purifies without consuming, that illuminates without blinding. Ruled by the Sun and governed by Agni, the Vedic god of fire and sacrifice, Krittika spans both Aries and Taurus, bridging the impulsive self of Aries with the enduring form of Taurus. Its life aim is Kama — desire, creativity, the embodied pursuit of what matters — and its karmic teaching is discernment in the use of one's own fire. The soul-level lesson is learning to wield the blade of truth and discrimination without severing what it was meant to serve.

The razor and flame symbols are telling: across lifetimes, Krittika souls have often been teachers, priests, warriors, surgeons, or reformers — those given authority to cut away what is false or corrupt. The past-life pattern frequently involves a period of absolute conviction: a righteous cause, a clear enemy, a burning purpose. In some incarnations that fire served beautifully. Subtler expressions include chronic irritability, an inability to enjoy things that are imperfect, and a withering quality in communication — the precise word that lands like a cut. This is the double edge of solar clarity: the Sun illuminates everything equally, without considering whether the illumination is welcome.

Integration Path

The integration practice for Krittika is the development of *sacred restraint* — the Agni quality of the contained fire rather than the wildfire. In ritual, Agni is fed deliberately: the right fuel, the right time, the right invocation. Krittika integration asks the native to bring this consciousness to the expression of their own fire.
