About This Mantra

Om Rahave Namaha invokes Rahu, the shadow planet (chaya graha) represented by the ascending lunar node. Rahu is not a physical body but a mathematical point where the Moon's orbit intersects the ecliptic, yet his effects in Jyotish are among the most powerful and disorienting of all the grahas. Rahu represents insatiable desire, worldly ambition, foreign influences, technology, illusion, and the karmic pull toward experiences the soul has not yet had.

How to Chant

Chant with focused intensity -- Rahu responds to concentrated will. Dark clothing (navy blue or black) and sandalwood incense honor Rahu. The mantra should be chanted during Rahu kalam (the inauspicious Rahu period of each day) to transform that time from obstacle to opportunity. For remedial purposes, combine with practices that bring clarity -- meditation, journaling, or study -- to counterbalance Rahu's tendency toward confusion and illusion.

Pronunciation Guide

Ohm Rah-huh-vay Nah-mah-hah. 'Rahave' is three syllables -- Rah-huh-vay -- with the emphasis on the first syllable. The 'R' is a clear dental consonant.

Benefits

Reduces the intensity of obsessive desires and compulsive behaviors. Clears mental confusion and strengthens discernment. Protects against psychic disturbances and negative entities.

Graha Connection

Rahu (North Node). Primary Rahu remedy.
