Om Kleem Krishnaya Namaha
Salutations to Krishna, the All-Attractive
About This Mantra
Om Kleem Krishnaya Namaha invokes Lord Krishna through his bija syllable 'Kleem,' the seed sound of divine attraction. Krishna is the most complete avatar of Vishnu -- simultaneously the cosmic ruler and the playful child, the supreme philosopher of the Bhagavad Gita and the irresistible lover of the Gopis. He represents the divine truth that the highest reality is not austere and remote but intimate, joyful, and maddeningly attractive.
How to Chant
Chant with devotion and longing -- Krishna responds to the heart's sincerity, not formal perfection. Yellow or peacock-blue clothing and tulsi (holy basil) honor Krishna. The mantra pairs beautifully with kirtan (devotional singing) and can be chanted while playing instruments. A tulsi mala is the preferred counting tool for Krishna mantras.
Pronunciation Guide
Ohm Kleem Krish-nah-yah Nah-mah-hah. 'Kleem' rhymes with 'cream' and should be held slightly, allowing the nasal 'm' to vibrate. 'Krishna' is two syllables -- Krish-nah.
Benefits
Opens the heart to divine love and devotional ecstasy. Transforms mundane desire into spiritual aspiration. Attracts loving relationships and deepens existing ones.
Graha Connection
Moon (Chandra) and Venus (Shukra). Krishna embodies the Moon's emotional richness and nurturing love and Venus's beauty, attraction, and aesthetic delight.
