About This Mantra

Om Ham Hanumate Namaha invokes Hanuman, the monkey god who represents devotion, physical strength, courage, selfless service, and the power of celibacy (brahmacharya). Hanuman is the ideal devotee -- his love for Rama is so complete that it becomes a source of supernatural power. He can fly, change size, lift mountains, and burn cities, yet he uses these abilities exclusively in service of his lord.

How to Chant

Chant with physical vitality and devotional feeling -- Hanuman responds to the combination of strength and love. Orange or red clothing and the offering of sindoor (vermillion) honor Hanuman. The mantra is especially powerful when chanted during or after physical exercise, as Hanuman is the patron of wrestlers, athletes, and warriors. Tuesday and Saturday are his primary days.
