About This Mantra

Om Gurave Namaha invokes Brihaspati (Jupiter), the guru of the devas, who represents wisdom, grace, expansion, dharma, and the capacity to see meaning in experience. Jupiter is the most benefic of all the grahas, and his blessings manifest as optimism, generosity, good fortune, spiritual inclination, and the presence of wise teachers in one's life. In Jyotish, Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces and is the karaka for children, husband (in a woman's chart), wealth, higher education, and spiritual practice.

How to Chant

Chant with reverence and gratitude -- Jupiter responds to devotion and humility. Yellow clothing or a yellow cloth honors Jupiter. The mantra is particularly powerful when chanted after receiving teaching, reading scripture, or experiencing an insight. Offering the practice to one's teachers (past and present, human and non-human) amplifies its effect.

Pronunciation Guide

Ohm Goo-ruh-vay Nah-mah-hah. 'Gurave' is three syllables -- Goo-ruh-vay -- with the emphasis on the first syllable. The 'v' is soft, almost a 'w.'

Benefits
